Fall Color in Fergus Falls

Is anybody else in denial that fall is on its way? Well it is and I’m here to help you be prepared….prepared to show off Fergus Falls and Otter Tail County in the splendor that is the Otter Trail Scenic Byway. With Maplewood and Glendalough State Parks and our gorgeous lakes, rivers, woods and prairies – the byway route is a perfect way to enjoy the fall colors.

Whether driving or biking, the maps and route signs guide you to each of the 23 sites. These sites were selected for their historical and cultural importance. Many of them have kiosks or display panels containing information about the site, and many have other features such as trails, picnic facilities and opportunities to view wildlife.

The 150 mile route is a loop – so you can start and end anywhere that’s convenient. Pick up a map in the Chamber of Commerce office, any of the kiosks throughout Fergus Falls hospitality sites (museum, mall, arena, etc.) or online here. It is a great time to invite friends and family to visit. Enjoy Leaf Days in Maplewood Park (Sept 27-28 and October 4-5).

In our area the colors usually peak in late September or early October. For a real-time update about peak color conditions check the DNR web site link: www.dnr.state.mn.us/fall_colors.
