Local history
The Otter Tail County Historical Museum is recognized as one of the best local history museums in Minnesota. From authentically recreated dioramas and period rooms to creative hands-on activities, the museum is a unique cultural and educational resource in Otter Tail County.
A visit to the Museum is a great way to spend some time during your stay.
Strolling past the compelling dioramas and period rooms, one can almost smell bread baking in a wood burning stove or see a crew harvesting wheat with a McCormick reaper.
The newly renovated Agricultural Wing features many activities and as you walk through, the actual sounds of horse-drawn plowing, a steam engine and barnyard animals are so well done you think you are on a 1890s farm. The gift shop specializes in distinctive gifts that reflect Otter Tail County and Minnesota. Browse around and discover handcrafted jewelry and gifts, books on state and local history and lots of games and toys to keep the kids occupied on the long ride home.
