Theater, Concerts & Performances
Fergus Falls has a fantastic performing arts theater, A Center For the Arts. It is a gem to our community and provides year-round music, dance, theatre and visual arts programs. From big names like Leon Redbone and Moore by Four to local favorites and community theater, A Center for the Arts offers variety and excellence. Community productions each summer are often sell-out occasions and show the depth of talent here in Fergus Falls.
Originally The Fergus Theatre, the building was built as a vaudeville house. In the 1950s, the theater became a movie house and assumed the name The Orpheum. However, with the advent of videos and satellite dishes, movies became less popular. From 1982-1992, the theatre was basically operated for only the non-heating months of the year. In 1993, renovations began and the theater would become the year-round facility it is today. A Mighty WurliTzer theater pipe organ was also added and is played regularly in concerts, before movies and during silent films.
