Educational Programs
The Prairie Wetlands Learning Center offers a variety of environmental education programs to learners of all ages, as well as interpretive programs and walks throughout the year. Special events provide opportunities to celebrate the cultural and natural history of the prairie, discover the secrets of successful water fowling or investigate the wonders of wetlands. Operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Center also hosts teacher workshops and training sessions for wildlife professionals.
The Visitor Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and houses interpretive exhibits that provide information about the natural history of the 325 acres of native prairie and wetlands in Prairie Pothole Region and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Bluestem Store, also in the Visitor Center, offers a variety of nature-related books and gifts and is operated by the Friends of the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center. The Center grounds are open dawn to dusk every day.
